The colourful days

The Yellow Day  

 We organized the yellow day on 25th March. A lot of our students and teachers came this day to school dressed in yellow, some of them were yellow all over! The school looked that day like the school for chickens...

During the lessons on this day students in Maths lessons counted how many plastic bottles they can put into the dust bin for plastic, in Physics they used plastic bottles for making experiments, in Art they made Picture using plastic things, in Civic they spoke about waste in the countryside and so on.

We all enjoyed this day very much and we are looking forward to the next one.

The Blue Day

We had the Blue day today in our school. (1st of April)

There was blue colour everywhere. And the whole day we spoke only about one thing – paper. The children found out how the paper is produced and they used it for making some products. In Czech students wrote a paper dictate, in Physics they made experiments with it and I mustn´t forget Art – a lot of art works were made today.

And we all are looking forward for the Green day – next week.

The Green Day

Today we had the Green Day in our school. (8th April)

Glass was everywhere – at least in the lessons – again, children counted how much glass can be in one lorry, they made waste dictionaries, they used glass for making products, they learnt how the galss is produced. Two classes went on an excursion to a glassworks and they watched the whole process how the glass is being made. I tell you, it is a realy hard work.

"Three of our students from 8 th and 7th grade (Michal, Andrea and Bára) prepared one lesson for boys and girls form our first grades. They taught the children how to sort the waste. They prepared games and also a worksheet with colourful bins and the children put glass and paper and plastic into them according the colour. The young teachers were surprised how difficult it is to teach children but they were also surprised how inspiring  it can be if it is done properly." /Petra/

"A hetedik és nyolcadik évfolyamosok közül hárman: Michal, Andrea és Bára órát tartottak az elsősöknek. Megtanították nekik, hogy hogyan kell szelektíven szemetet gyűjteni. Játékokkal készültek és egy feladatlapot is készítettek, amin a diákoknak a papírt, műanyagot és az üveget a megfelelő színű kukába kellett tenni. A fiatal tanárok meglepődtek, hogy milyen nehéz tanítani, ugyanakkor azon is meglepődtek, hogy milyen inspiráló tud lenni, ha az ember jól csinálja" /Petra/

Do you remember the ecokodex of the Czech school?

Petra wrote: there is one item saying that "…we help the animals.“ And in these days one of our first classes made 12 feeders for birds. They made balls of some fat, oats flakes and some seeds. They put the feeders on trees around our school. I send some photos too.

Egyik diákom saját magától egy blog írásába kezdett! Mindent egyedül csinált-képeket készített, szabályokat alkotott az energia és a vízfelhasználás csökkentésére stb.

2008 december 12-én karácsonyi játszóházat rendeztünk a Széchenyi István Általános Iskolában a Comenius program keretében. Szép ajándékok és díszek születtek!

On the 12th of December we organized a so-called "playhouse" in the Széchenyi Általános Iskola. It is traditional in our school but this time it related to our Comenius programme. Nice works and pieces of decoration were made!

Petra's summary about the competition:

 There was a school competiton in our school at the beginning of January- we were looking for a school ecokodex. All classes prepared their own class ecocodexes and all students and teachers voted for the best one. And we have it! Now we want to make it a bit bigger and put it in our entrance hall. By the way – ecocodex means some rules how to behave in our school, how to treat the litter and so on. In the photos you can see some of the ecocodexes. The winner is the one with colourful hands.

Petra összegzése a versenyről:

Január elején iskolai versenyt tartottunk, a cél ökokódex létrehozása volt. Minden osztály elkészítette a saját ökokódexét és a legjobbat a tanárok és a diákok közösen szavazták meg. Szóval megvan! Most egy kissé nagyobb formátumban szeretnénk elkészíteni és kitenni a bejárathoz. Egyébként az ökokódex irányadó szabályokat tartalmaz például az iskolai viselkedést vagy a hulladékkezelést illetően. A fotókon néhány pályamunka látható. A győztes az amelyiken a színes kezek vannak.

Sezgi gave us a summary about the things they have done in connection with our project and she sent some photos, too! :)

September program: We did informing meetings with the teachers and student.We composed groups to work with.
October program: we prepared a Comenius corner(in that corner we have 3 flags of each country,your and my pictures and surely the specific matters on project). We also organized a project logo competition among the students and two girls gained it.
November program:We cleaned our school and near streets.
December program:We organized the Winter Exhibition with many original models (ı will send those photos later because there is a problem with camera and we will bring  some models of clothes with us )

Rövid összegzés került Polgárdi város hivatalos honlapjának fórumára, alkalmat adva ezzel a város lakosságának, hogy véleményezzék és hozzászólásaikkal segítsék munkánkat.

We put a short summary in the official webpage of Polgardi in the forum section to give the opportunity to our inhabitants to give their opinion in connection with the project.

Reméljük ez az év gyümölcsöző lesz a projekt szempontjából. A kezdés nem volt rossz, szóval... :)

Örülünk, hogy itt üdvözölhettük Gabit és Petrát és reméljük örömmel jönnek hozzánk legközelebb is.

Tervezzük az utat Prágába, februárban lesz, ha minden jól megy. A tervek szerint három pedagógus jön Törökországból, három vagy négy Magyarországról és megvalósítjuk az első diáktalálkozót is, két magyar diák is kilátogat a cseh iskolába.

Szokatlanul hideg van most!!! Brrrr! :(

First of all:HAPPY NEW YEAR TO OUR PARTNERS! :)

 We hope that this year will be "fruitful" as for the project. The beginning was not the worst so... :)

We were happy to welcome you here Gabi and Petra, and we hope that you will come to us with pleasure in the future, too.

We are planning the visit in Prague. It will be in February if everything is all right. According to the plans in the meeting there will be three teachers from Turkey, three or four teachers from Hungary and we will realize the first pupils' meeting with two students from Hungary.

The weather is unusually cold now!!!! Brrrr.... :(

Dear Hungarian friends, we would you like to thank you for your hospitality, we enjoyed everthing very much. Thank you, Petra and Gabi.

What have we managed to discuss? We discussed official web pages for our project, we decided to put our email addresses on the blog - to let teachers cooperate more - we discussed the winter exhibition, the spring fashion show, the next visit in the Czech republic. We managed to go through the whole first year of our programme. I think we have done a lot of work.

Mit sikerült megbeszélnünk? A projekt hivatalos weboldalát létrehoztuk, eldöntöttük, hogy felteszünk email címeket a blogra, hogy a tanáraink jobban tudjanak együttműködni, beszéltünk a téli kiállításról, a tavaszi divatshowról, és a soron következő cseh projekttalálkozóról. Sikerült átbeszélnünk az első év programját. Azt hiszem sokat dolgoztunk.

Októberi program a cseh iskolában:

- egyik osztályunk egy céghez utazott amely műanyaghulladék újrahasznosításával foglalkozik

- készülünk az Öko-napokra, ami november 18 és 19-én lesz iskolánkban--egy városi egyesület segít nekünk versenyt szervezni a gyerekeknek a hulladékkal és újrahasznosításával kapcsolatban

- Ökoteam értekezletet is tartottunk

- részt vettünk egy versenyen, amelynek címe: Játék az újrahasznosítással -- tartókat készítünk használt elemeknek

- sajnos nem takarítottunk ki egy helyet sem az iskola körül a Prágában kitört sárgaság járvány miatt... de megbeszéltük a városházával és ők segíteni fognak nekünk, tavasszal vesznek fákat és virágokat, mi pedig elültetjük őket takarítás helyett. Remélem nem probléma ez a kis változás, a sárgaság sajnos komoly ok...

Nem, nem probléma...:)

October program in the Czech School:

Ø  A trip to firm, that recycle plastic waste – one class

Ø  We are preparing Eco days , which should take place on 18 and 19 November in our school – a civic association is helping us to provide a competition between children about waste, recycling and things like that.

Ø  We had another Ecoteam meeting

Ø  We are taking part in a competition called „ Playing with recycling“ – we are making a containers for used bateries

Ø  We didn´t clean any place around our school because of epidemy of jaundice, which was in Prague, but we discussed it with our town hall and they will help us – in spring they will buy trees and flowers and we will plant them instead cleaning. I hope we can change the program a bit – this is a serious reason, I mean the jaundice, isn´t it?

Yes, so it is not a problem... :)

  A projekt sikeresen elindult. Ezen időszaka alatt a diákok és a tanárok számára is izgalmas és kihívást jelentő programokat szerveztünk.

Az első projekttel kapcsolatos tantestületi értekezletet szeptember 3-án rendeztük meg. Ezen a rendezvényen megbeszélésre kerültek a program részletei, a lehetőségek és ezek megvalósítása. Minden tanár részletes tervet kapott az elvégzendő feladatokról.

Szeptemberben iskolánk egyhetes kiállítást tartott a szelektív hulladékgyűjtésről és a ÖKO-Pack közhasznú társaságnak köszönhetően az iskola minden osztálya előadáson vehetett részt, ahol a tanulók megismerkedhettek a hulladék újrafelhasználásának fontosságával és számos újrafelhasznált anyagból készült tárgyat megérinthettek és kipróbálhattak.

Tanáraink bemutatták a projektet az osztályoknak és beszélgetéseket kezdeményeztek a településünket érintő környezeti problémákról.  Ezenkívül osztálytermi szinten megvitatták a  részt vevő országok között fennálló lehetséges kulturális és életmódbeli különbségeket.Diákjaink fantasztikus posztereket készítettek Törökországról és a Cseh Köztársaságról.

Sajnos az első nemzetközi találkozót amelyre szeptemberben került volna sor technikai okok miatt el kellett halasztani, de a későbbiek során igyekszünk majd pótolni.

Az Őszi Kampány részleteinek tisztázása megtörtént, eme rendezvényünkre október 18-án kerül majd sor, ennek keretében tisztítjuk meg  iskolánkat és környékét.

Our project successfully started. During this period of time we had very exciting and challenging programmes for the students and the teachers as well. Every teacher was given a handout with detailed project scheme and tasks.

In September our school organized a week-long exhibition about the advantages of selective waste collection and thanks to ÖKO-Pack public benefit company all of our classes could take part in a presentation where students could get into touch personally and physically with reused things. The children were also provided with plenty of educational materials, quizzes. It was extremely useful and the children enyoyed it very much.

Our teachers presented the project to the classes and they have started to identify the environmental problems around their place, and to discuss the expectations of lifestyle and cultural differences between participating partners. They prepared fantastic posters about the Czech Republic and Turkey.

Unfortunately the first planning meeting which was due to happen in September had to be cancelled because of technical problems. But we try to arrange it later. 

The finalisation of the Autumn Campaign to clean the school and its surroundings and a public place took place. It will be held on the 18th of October.

 In the Czech Republic our partner school started the project, too. Just a short summary from their coordinator teacher, Petra.

·         In the beginning of September we had a meeting at our school – I informed my colleaugues about the fund, who got it and what we are going to do

·         Preperation of our visit in Hungary

·         For this meeting – I mean in Hungary – we during one week in September made a file about our country, capital city, our town, our school and two of our classes . We did it in a „paper form“, which I will bring with me and we also scanned it added a presentation about how we made this project – this is full of photos, which I took during making the project – this will be on a CD. We did it with older students , but the younger ones did a small work too – they wrote something about her favourite things

·         We(one class) made a trip to a dump – they showed us how they treat the waste and things like this

·         We (one class) made a trip to a place where they make a compost from the waste – quite interesting

·         We took steps towards getting the title Eco school, so we had a meeting of our eco  team and we discussed things – in fact , we started this last year, as I had wrtitten about it efore, so this year we continue with it, new thing, for example, is collecting old batteries

·         A week stay of two classes in the eco centre in the mountains – I wrote about it in my last email – we learnt about nature and things like these.

Iskolánk, a Széchenyi Általános és Zeneiskola és Dolgozók Gimnáziuma (Polgárdi) 2008-ban sikert ért el az Egész életen át tartó tanulás program keretében meghirdetett Comenius Iskolai együttműködések pályázaton, így 2008 szeptemberében elkezdhettük a kétéves projektet, amelynek címe: Waste as a Tool of Imagination and Art-Unprofessional Reuse (A hulladék a fantázia és a művészet eszközeként  - Amatőr újrafelhasználás).

A projekt két másik résztvevője a cseh ZŠ Dr. E. Beneše (Praha 9 – Čakovice) és a török Mehmet Akif Ersoy Általános Iskola. (Ağrı).

A tervezett együttműködés keretein belül a résztvevő iskolák diákjai tanulmányozzák a hulladékkezelést és megosztják egymással tapasztalataikat többek között az életmód és a fenntartható fejlődés tekintetében.

Reményeink szerint tapasztalataink megosztása segít majd csökkenteni a hulladék mennyiségét és megelőzni annak káros környezeti hatásait.

Ezen felül megpróbáljuk a környezetvédelmet hosszú távon iskolai kultúránk részévé tenni, kezdetben egyéni szinten majd az iskola egészét és a tágabb közösségeket bevonva szélesítjük diákjaink látókörét.

Abban az országban ahol létezik Ökoiskola cím ott távolabbi céljaink között szerepel eme cím elnyerése is.

A Comenius Iskolai együttműködések program nemzetközi jellege kiváló lehetőséget teremt arra, hogy megismerjük más népek életét, életmódját és problémáit.

Köztudott, hogy a környezetvédelem a világ nemzeteinek közös problémája. Ha lépéseket szeretnénk tenni ez ügyben először a fiatalabb generációkat kell megtanítanunk rá, hogy hogyan kell és lehet védeni a természetet és óvni energiaforrásainkat.

Ezenkívül projektünk ösztönzi az idegen nyelven (főleg angol nyelven) folytatott kommunikációt is. Szeretnénk ha diákjaink megtapasztalhatnák, hogy  milyen más nemzetekkel együtt egy közös célért harcolni.

In English:

In 2008 our application for Comenius Multilateral School Partnerships. Project in LLL managed by Tempus Public Foundation in Hungary was supported by the EC.

This way we had the opportunity to start a two-year-long project titled Waste as a Tool of Imagination and Art- Unprofessiononal Reuse.

The other two participants of this project are the Czech ZŠ Dr. E. Beneše (Praha 9 – Čakovice) and the Turkish Mehmet Akif Ersoy Primary Schools. (Ağrı)

Pupils will study their waste management and share this with each other in order to compare lifestyles and sustainability across Europe. We hope to learn from each other to reduce our waste and its environmental impact. We try to change school culture to improve the environment in a long term vision. We plan to begin at the individual level and broaden the pupils’ horizons to include school, community and global perspectives.

Where such a scheme exists, schools will work towards the Eco School Green Flag status, with a view to achieving an award at the end of the project.

To take part in European cooperation activities such as this Partnership is an excellent possibility to get to know other people’s life, lifestyle and problems as well. We think that environmental protection is a common problem for all nations in the world. If we want to take steps, first we have to teach the younger generations how to start to save our energy sources and how to protect our nature. In addition this project encourages our students to communicate with other people in foreign languages especially in English. We would like our pupils to feel that they can strive for a common purpose and they can share their ideas with other nations in Europe.
